Nianyi Huang

Renowned Chinese pianist Huang Nianyi, who embarked on his musical journey in the United States, began studying piano from a young age under the guidance of his mother. In 2010, with his exceptional achievements, he entered the piano performance program at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Middle School, studying under Professor Sun Yun. In 2016, Huang Nianyi was simultaneously admitted to five music colleges in the United States and chose to further his studies at the Manhattan School of Music on a full scholarship.

Throughout his musical journey, Huang Nianyi has received numerous honors and awards. In April 2018, he won the grand prize, the first prize in the adult category, and the best performance of a designated work at the 4th "Shanghai Spring" International Online Piano Exhibition. In August of the same year, he won the special gold award in the youth group of the inaugural "Yin Cai Cup" International Piano Invitation Competition and was invited to perform at the Steinway Hall in New York.

In 2019, he won the grand prize and the special étude award at the Academy of Music in Italy Festival and successfully held a solo concert in Lucca, Italy. In 2020, Huang Nianyi became the youngest “Helen Contracted Pianist” and continued his graduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music with the highest full scholarship. He also received the Harold and Helene Schonberg Foundation Pianist Scholarship for four consecutive years from 2019 to 2022.

In April 2022, Huang Nianyi was admitted to the New Paltz International Pianist Art Festival in the United States with a full scholarship. In May, he was admitted to the Puerto Piano Music Festival with a high scholarship and won first place and the best performance of a Romantic work in the G. Gershwin International Piano Competition in June. He successfully enrolled in the Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program at the Manhattan School of Music with a high scholarship and a teaching assistant position. Huang Nianyi is a close disciple of renowned pianist and educator Professor Phillip Kawin and currently studies under famous pianist and piano professor Jeffrey Cohen.

In 2023, Huang Nianyi forged an important collaboration with the Sunway Music Foundation, becoming a long-term guest pianist for the foundation. This partnership further solidifies his position on the international music stage.
