On February 18th, during a weekend afternoon filled with love and melodies, the Sunway Music Foundation, in collaboration with Mind Sound Music School and Good Creation Supply, held a special immersive and interactive music event at OPERA America's National Opera Center in New York. This event was designed for children with autism, aiming to bring them warmth and joy through the power of music.
In the concert's first half, we focused on Prokofiev's classic work "Peter and the Wolf," creating a fun-filled musical world for the children through a combination of music and storytelling. In this world, not only did the children learn about music, but the interaction between music and story also sparked their imagination and creativity. In the second half, we were honored to have the tenor singer Nan Feng and his wife Hillary perform classic opera pieces like "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," "In the Crowd of Thousand," and "A Whole New World." Their warm and vibrant voices touched everyone present, adding an unforgettable artistic enjoyment to the event. We are grateful to the Sunway Foundation's founder, young violinist Luo Shiqi, along with violin doctor Tuo Shanrong and pianist Dai Wei for their wonderful performances and selfless dedication. Their participation made this event successful, bringing an unforgettable musical journey to the children with autism.
The atmosphere on site was warm and loving, with everyone immersed in the beauty of music, as if they were in a world full of harmony and understanding. Classical music has a positive impact on the development of children with autism. Music not only promotes their emotional expression and social skills but also helps them make progress in cognitive and linguistic abilities. Through such events, we hope to further explore the therapeutic effects of music on children with autism, providing more support and help for their growth and development. Let us look forward to lighting up hope for more children with autism through the power of music, letting love and beauty blossom in their world.
